Carbon

CBAM embedded emissions

Specific embedded emissions (tCO₂e per tonne) of a product at your installation, calculated with the method of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2547, compared with the Commission default values, with the data for the operator’s emissions report (Annex IV). A data pack, not a CBAM declaration.

New here? How this works

You will need: For one product made at one installation: the production quantity, the fuels and electricity used to make it, and its CN code (the customs code on the invoice). Ask your plant or energy manager if you do not have them.

  1. Choose the sector and type the CN code of the product (first 4 to 8 digits of the customs code).
  2. Enter how much you produced, in tonnes unless the box says otherwise.
  3. Add the fuels burned and the electricity bought. Skip the technical boxes you do not know; the standard values are used.
  4. Press Calculate. The result is the embedded emissions per tonne, ready for your EU customer.

Example values are already filled in. Press Calculate once to see what a result looks like, then replace them with your own.

Operator and installation (Annex IV, point 1)

Good and period

Direct: fuels burned (standard method, Annex II B.3.1.1)

Fuels burned at the plant to make the good. Enter the total for the period, in the unit shown.

Direct: process emissions from carbonate decomposition (Table 3, input based)

Only if the process breaks down limestone or similar. Skip otherwise.

Direct: process emissions from other materials, iron and steel (Table 5)

Advanced, iron and steel only. Skip otherwise.

Direct: mass balance method (Annex II B.3.2), your carbon contents

Advanced. Only if you track carbon in and out of the process. Skip otherwise.

Direct: other gases and measured CO₂ (Table 6 GWPs)

Advanced. Only for measured gas emissions such as N₂O or PFCs. Skip otherwise.

Measurable heat imported or exported (Annex III A.2.2)

Only if you buy heat from or sell heat to another plant. Skip otherwise.

Waste gases imported or exported (Annex III A.2.3), energy content in TJ

Only if waste gases are passed to or from another plant. Skip otherwise.

Indirect: electricity (Annex II D, Art. 9)

Electricity bought for the plant. Your electricity bill gives the kWh.

Precursor materials (Annex II E, Art. 14, 15; Annex III B)

Materials you bought in that were already made with emissions (for example steel rods for screws). Skip if none.
